David is a licensed attorney and social worker who is one of the only family law mediators in California who is trained as both a lawyer and psychotherapist and his work reflects a blend of those academic perspectives and skills. David trained as a custody mediator in the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, and has been mediating and arbitrating family law and business disputes for over two decades since his graduation from the University of California, Berkeley and UC Hastings College of the Law. David is known for his ability to allow his clients to be and feel heard while, at the same time, guiding them to the compromise that is necessary in order to resolve complex and emotional disputes. David’s training in ego psychology and psychotherapy allows him to quickly understand the psychodynamics of a case so that he can assist his clients in reaching mutual agreement, even in high conflict contexts, while, at the same time, his training in the psychotherapeutic treatment of children and families has allowed him to master the art of child custody negotiations and co-parenting counseling.
